Granny Turns 87

Granny turned 87 on June 8.
WOW!!!
We had a party for her down at the pond. Gene provided the entertainment by driving all the kids around on his golf cart. I guess it doesn't take much to entertain hillbillies.

Winnie had no trouble helping herself to the strawberries. I didn't see it but I guess Jaguar helped himself to two handfuls of cake and proceeded to lick all the frosting off of his hands. :)

Granny just asked Aaron to pull her finger.

Neil had No Comment.

Gayle & Granny

I found this picture of Granny & Gayle. Granny is the one on the right. :)
This looks like Gayle is just trying to get a nice picture with Granny, however if you really look at the picture you can figure out what is going on. Ray has gotten Gayle to distract Granny so he can snatch Granny's piece of cake and eat it. Willie is standing behind them to run interference just in case Granny realizes what is going on.

Vacations

We have been talking a lot around here about some of our vacations over the years. I thought I might share a few of ours over the years.
Start the National Lampoons Vacation music here :)
Back when I was pretty young my mom decided to pack me and my sister up and drive down to Texas during the summer to visit Mary. Believe it or not we owned the famous station wagon. Mae, Cheri and Billy came along, and so did granny who was on some kind of water pill or something that made stopping at every other exit mandatory.
It wasn't too far along into the trip before little Billy was stinking up the car pretty bad. So the next mandatory restroom break for my granny his mom insisted he try to go to the bathroom. After about 5 minutes here came Mae with little Billy in tow and down the road we went as my aunt described how incredibly much the poor little boy had pooped down to the length and diameter of the 2 turds. The worst part is we were all fascinated by the story.
Next we stopped at a hotel for the evening. It had a pool so all of us kids were in our swimming suits in about 2 seconds flat. My mom had gotten her bathing suit on but said she was just going to sit on the side of the pool and dangle her feet in the water. Imagine our surprise when we see her plunge into the water and start digging at her hind end like a dog with mange. :0 She had sat on a crack in the cement which obviously was the home to some very upset fire ants. They were now in her suit biting her like there was no tomorrow. If you think that was the worst part of the story you would be wrong. I spent the rest of the vacation having to examine her hind end every night as she asked me if they looked like they were getting infected. I still have trouble sleeping some nights because of this. :)
The rest of the vacation was pretty good. Mary thought I was just a little guy so she would only give me 1/2 of a baked potato and a sliver of anything we were eating at the time. She also liked to count the spoonfuls of sugar that I put on my cereal. We did go to a rodeo, a six flags, a horse breeding farm, and the Fort Worth ranch that was the ranch at the beginning of Dallas. I bought a 1/10 of an acre of the ranch, I guess that is my retirement home.
The ride home was uneventful except now Cheri had to go to the bathroom, why she could not have gone at any of the other hundreds of stops we will never know but she had to go now.
Start the Banjo music now.
We got off of an exit that you could not get back on the highway from. We went to the only gas station around and asked to use the bathroom. They said it was around back. There was no door, which was alright because there were no walls either just a toilet on a concrete slab out behind the gas station. Cheri did her business but the rest of us, even granny who up till now had used every toilet between here and Texas decided we could wait until the next pit stop.
The best part that I forgot to mention is that granny was on the water pill because her leg was in a cast. We had a walker tied to the top of the car that we had to take off at every stop. Just about the time we got granny back in the car and the walker tied back on she had to go to the restroom again.
FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!!!!

Water Safety First!

Any Good Memories??

Okay how about some Good Memories from Granny's house! Mom taking Billsie and I down there to get leaves for our Halloween scarecrows, the hayrides complete with straw fights, and the aunts sitting in the "red" living room talking and laughing so loud it was deafining -I can still hear it!

But no family is perfect a bad memory would be Crystal and Denise once putting nasty goop on my thumb to cure my thumbsucking problem (sorry ladies it didn't work!).

Here is my favorite Weaver Memory - We were at the Morrow County fair in the bathroom and I dropped my hair thing in to the potty... To stop my crying Jill bravely went in after it and got it out ( can you believe Mom didn't let me keep it!?) Needless to say our two anticeptic Mothers about had a fit!

There was also a cross country trip to Texas in a very crowded station wagon! Someone ask Linda about the red ants!

More Painful Memories

There must be something with the rotten Aunts. Denise knocked me off a stool while I was peeing when I was a young kid. Still have a scar above my right eye.' :)
Crystal and Beth sold me my tree house (I do not believe any money exchanged hands) and made me swear that I would take good care it which was a recorded by a tape recorder. A few years later me and Butch were carrying rocks up to the tree house when I heard watch out. Butch dropped a BOULDER on my head knocked me off the ladder on to the ground. Don't worry he didn't get hurt at all.
I also remember Denise borrowing our car and while backing out of the drive she hit the first of two wagon wheels. She decided she didn't do enough damage so she gunned the car and hit the second wagon wheel. By the time she came to a stop the car was sitting on top of a stake that was poking up into the gas tank.

My two cents...

I don't have too many memories @ Granny's, but here are two:

.01 - Almost falling out of the car on the way to Granny's, because I was so excited and holding the door handle.

.02 - Kenny bringing a rabbit (I think) he'd just shot to a family dinner. First time I tried rabbit I bit into my first piece of shot. Didn't slow me down any, though. Maybe that's where Jeremiah gets it....

How about....

falling off of the John Deere mower between Sam and Linda's and Granny's and having to have stitches in my forehead? I think Crystal pushed me off!! That could be what is wrong with me.. or maybe walking in the dark from Sam and Linda's to Granny's one night and Denise and Crystal telling me the boogeyman was outside.... rotten aunts I have!!! Those are two things that STICK out in my mind as a child in the Weaver clan.....

Memories

I think Linda was wanting people to put up some of there memories about growing up a Weaver. I didn't grow up as a Weaver but I lived next door to a bunch. :) I remember coming down to Granny's house and eating bologna(had to sing the song to spell it right) and she was always making up kool-aid in the white and green pitcher.
The other thing I remember is sitting in the living room watching TV and Denise and Crystal having a tennis ball and would throw it at the TV every time the picture went bad and it would come back on.
We can either write down some memories or have a double chin contest, again pictures would be needed as proof. I would definitely be in the running again.
